The frequently asked questions you need to read…

  • There are several benefits from buying from a legal dispensary, including:

TESTING. All the products we sell have been thoroughly tested for impurities (germs, toxins, metals) by a NYS licensed laboratory. The test results are clearly visible on every package.

TRANSPARENCY. You know exactly what you’re consuming, including the THC percentage, and what other cannabinoids and terpenes are in the product.

BETTER & SAFER EXPERIENCE. By consuming safe, high-quality, lab tested products, you know exactly what cannabinoids and terpenes are present; therefore, significantly increasing the likelihood of having a positive experience.

    • Owners are all Southtowners; family owned & owners always present; woman physician among the proprietors

Our staff spent months vetting each brand and products within the brands.  The staff has 25+ years of experience in the legacy market. We made it our mission to bring quality products to our community.

  • Our goal is to ensure you enjoy your experience, have fun, ask lots of questions and let our dispensary educators guide you based on your personal needs. You have a few options when shopping at Green Philosophy from in-store purchasing, to pre-ordering online….and soon delivery. As a newbie, you probably want to speak with a dispensary educator and let them walk you through some options. Our staff has a combined experience of more than 100 years in legacy & legal cannabis. And we personally vet every product. If we won’t use it, we won’t sell it!

In our store, we like to say the product isn’t behind glass doors so you can’t read the labels (what sense does that make?). And staff doesn’t stay behind walls…we can give you our best service out on the floor by your side. If you want to browse on your own, that’s okay too…just “shoo” us away until you need assistance. It’s all good & EVERYONE is welcome!

  • There are many terms for cannabis including, weed, marijuana, pot, but the word cannabis holds true to the plant’s scientific name.

  • Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in cannabis that interact with the receptors in the brain and body to create various effects. More than 100 cannabinoids have been identified, with the most common being THC and CBD.

  • Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, including cannabis. They contribute to the plant's distinct smell and flavor and play a role in its effects. In cannabis, terpenes interact with cannabinoids (like THC and CBD) to create what's known as the "entourage effect," which can influence the overall experience of using the plant.

  • THC

When people think of cannabis, they generally are referring to THC, which is the cannabinoid that makes you feel euphoric or ‘high’. The THC percentage shown on a cannabis testing label is the percentage of THC compared to other terpenes and cannabinoids, and not the total THC amount in that strain.

    THCA

THCA is a naturally occurring acid that has no intoxicating effects until it’s heated (and then it turns until THC). The percentage value of THCA on a label represents the amount of THCA present. THCA has many potential healing benefits for arthritis, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and other ailments. While raw cannabis won’t leave you intoxicated, many people juice raw cannabis leaves for the many benefits found in THCA.

    CBD

CBD is yet another cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, and is the second most abundant after THC. CBD is non-intoxicating and has many potential therapeutic benefits such as anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, analgesic, and pain management. You will also find a CBD percentage on cannabis labels. If you want a CBD dominant product, look for products with low THC or ask one of our dispensary educators for help.

  • There are many ways to consume cannabis and if it’s your first time visiting, it can be overwhelming. That’s where we come in! But here’s a little preview:

Flower – you grind, you roll it, you smoke it! But there’s lots of different strains now which all give you a different high and feeling. You can purchase flower in different amounts (typically by the gram, by the ⅛ or by the ¼ ounce) or in pre-rolled joints. Please see our blog post on vaporizing whole flower. It is another way to consume flower without “combustion” so it feel less like a smoking experience.

Edibles – cannabis that you “eat/drink”. There’s lot of types of edibles these days including gummies, pills, chocolates, caramels, and even drinks. It can take a while for the edible to affect you, and it varies person by person, so take your time and don’t digest too much too soon. Some edibles are fast-acting, while others are not. We can help you figure out which is best for you.

Tinctures – tinctures are an effective way to deliver a precise dose of THC. Tinctures are made using a solvent like alcohol to extract important terpenes and cannabinoids like THC and CBD. Tinctures are often used for use cases that require consistent and repeated dosing.

Concentrates – Cannabis plants are covered by microscopic, mushroom-shaped, hair-like compounds called trichomes which surround the budding flower and produce the plant’s cannabinoids. Trichomes can be collected and made into concentrates, including extracts and dabs. Concentrates can contain very high levels of THC. Concentrates can be vaporized and inhaled using a vape pen or by dabbing (smoking highly concentrated cannabis oil). Concentrates and extracts are quite similar. Concentrates come in varying textures such as shatter, badder, budder, and crumble.

Topicals – Externally applied to the body, topicals are great for the consumer seeking help with pain management, anxiety and stress. Topicals are made with CBD or THC extracts and used for a variety of benefits; pain management, anxiety and stress. See our blog post on topicals.

    How much should I consume?

We recommend starting with a small amount the first time, get to know your personal limits and how it makes you feel. Edibles can take a few hours to fully metabolize, which means the effects are delayed. Start with 5 mgs (or one serving) first, wait 2 hours and see how you feel. Smoking flower is quite similar, however the effects are felt more immediately.

  • Anyone who is aged 21 and over with a current & valid photo identification (driver’s license, state ID card, passport) can enter a licensed NY dispensary.

  • Adults 21+ can possess at any time up to 3 oz of flower, or 24 grams of cannabis concentrate in the form of edibles or oil.

  • We are legally allowed to take cash and debit cards at this time. If you prefer to pay with cash, we have ATM machines in the store.

    We have different payment methods:

    1. Cash - we have two ATMs in the store. Please note the fee is $3.00 per transaction.

    2. Debit payments - please note there is a $3.00 processing fee for using your debit card.

    3. Dutchie Pay - Skip the ATM with Pay by Bank, the simple, secure, and cashless way to pay for cannabis. There is no charge for using Dutchie Pay. This is the easiest method to use.  If you make an online order, you can pay via Dutchie Pay and pick up your order quickly in-store.

  • Pre-ordering is great when you know exactly what you want. Simply place your order through our website. You can pay online using Dutchie Pay, or pay via cash or with a debit card when you pick up in the store.

  • Nope, sorry it’s a NY state law. When you come to the store for your pickup we will need to check your ID to match your pre-order.

  • Please never drive under the influence of cannabis!

Adults 21+ can consume cannabis in a private home or in most places allowing tobacco consumption, with the exception of consumption in a motor vehicle, a private business (such as a restaurant patio), a hookah or “cigar bar,” or on federal property.

  • Under the legal possession limit law in NY state, adults 21+ can “share” cannabis without compensation, to a person 21 years or older but the sale of a service or commodity associated with the sharing is prohibited, including so-called “gifting.”

  • Although cannabis is legal in New York, it is still federally classified as a Schedule 1 Drug, making it illegal to use/possess anywhere under federal control (such as a national park). If transporting cannabis, it must be in a sealed container. And please note cannabis cannot be legally transported across state lines.

  • We’re always looking out for good people with an interest in cannabis and retail, and who are kind, considerate and enjoy working with others. Please send your resume and an overview of what you’re looking for in a role to hello@gp716.com.
